OIL PAINTING
10.01.05 (2:08 pm)   [edit]
I woke up at quarter to six this morning. I updated my web page at 7. My mom's elder brother and his wife came to my house by car at 10. They are living in Aomori where it is northern city, 300km(190miles) away. They gave us marine products as their souvenir, mom gave them a box of potatoes of her crops as a souvenir from her, too, when they went back home at 11:30. My aunt in law said to us in the room before they left home, "What is this picture? What a great picture this is! I love this picture. Did you draw this? Is this an oil painting?" She asked me some questions one after another. "Yes. This is by me. Thanks." I answered her as I was being embarrassed. It was the oil painting of my parents that I painted when I was19 years old in Tokyo. I painted it from their photo that they sent me, and I sent it to them by mail from Tokyo. Mom said to me that she was going to the field this afternoon, but she seemed to be tired, so she did not go there. By the way, I studied English tonight, especially listening to English by MD. I went to sleep at 11. Anyway, I had a busy month this month.(SEP/30)  photo

GOLD WING
09.30.05 (1:09 pm)   [edit]
I woke up at 5 this morning, but I went to futon at 7 last night, so I seemed to sleep for 10 hours last night. I did not have a headache anymore. Updating in early morning got to be a little hard work for me, because it got to be cold in the morning these days. It got to be a slight dark and cold for my fingers without heater. I like this time-zone to update, but it might be moved to other time-zone shortly. I mean, I would move to warm place from Karuizawa. By the way, I drove my mom to the clinic to see an eye doctor at 10, but at before that, I called at DIY store because mom wanted to buy some bunches of tissue paper. I dropped her off at the clinic, and went back home. Honda Gold Wing, big motorcycle, stopped at traffic light on my way home. It had a sidecar. It was gold color and old type, but I saw it for the first time. My car stopped behind that, then the old rider told to the passenger in the sidecar in front of me. But the motorcycle turned right at the next traffic light. It seemed to be hard to turn corner for a motorcycle with a sidecar. I want Gold Wing, too. I heard it was sold very well in the US. I wonder if my foot would reach the ground. Anyway, I got back home at 10:30. It was fine day, so I did laundry for an hour and half from 11. Mom came back home on foot at 5:30. After having supper, I sit at my desk and tried solving a collection of problems until 9. I seemed to have a bit slight headache because I concentrated too much to that. I fell asleep at 11.By the way, as you can see, I added an old coaxial cable in a closet on the antenna to want to be highly sensitive to waves and catch waves more. It is useful as long antenna than I thought despite cheap radio. And as you can see, these are sausages. They are made from fish meat. They got popular these days than before because animal meats have problems these days.(SEP/29)  photo

BE STUDY
09.29.05 (1:24 pm)   [edit]
The time that I woke up this morning was at 4:30. But I still had a headache, so I took a cold medicine as a painkiller again. I turned PC onto update my web page at 6. After having breakfast, I went to nearby clinic by scooter to hand a receptionist mom's card at reception desk at 9:30. She said to me, "Would you say to her to come here at about 3 p.m. sir? ""Okay, I'll be sure to give your advice to her. Thanks" I had put a few bunches of old papers on the step-board of scooter to recycle when I left home, I happed to find piled old papers and magazines opposite to the clinic, so I dropped mine off there. And I called at DIY store along Route 4, and next, went to 100yen shop at 10. I bought such as a thermometer to put it in the water tank of turtle there. It was made in Germany. First, I was looking for thermometers in the store, but went around the store, but could not find them easily, so I called to a clerk. "Excuse me, where are there thermometers?" She said to me, "Would you follow me, sir?" and she kindly had me lead there. "Here they are, sir." "Thanks." I could get to the corner of thermometers by her soon. I spent $7 there. And I called at a bookstore on my way home, and picked up a weekly magazine to see pictures of Miss Hermes. And also called at another DIY store near the bookstore. I bought a clear-file that mom asked me to buy, because she had a lot of certificates of merit, and bought a can pencil case to take a test next month. However, my headache almost got well when I left home, but it came back in my head again about when I came back home at 11:30 before I knew. "You are plague!" I said to my head inside so. And then, we left home by car at 2:30, and I called at a bank to take her savings out of there before going to the clinic, and drove her to the clinic at 3. I got back home soon, and I took the cold medicine again. She was going to see a throat doctor after the clinic, but it seemed to be closed, so she did not call at the clinic, and came back home on foot at 5:30 at last. I went to futon after having supper of hot noodle with soup in bowl at 7:30. That's why I cannot study to taking a test at all until now. By the way, this is called roll cake in Japan, but printed Swiss Roll on it. Mom bought it at $1 at supermarket the other day, but there is a globe on the shelf, but it is what I bought at 100yen shop. There are some corks of wine, and a wooden spoon of ice cream. I use Epson to print with Masami, but Kyoko who has short home stayed to learn English in San Francisco uses Canon to print.  (SEP/28)  photo

STAYING FUTON
09.28.05 (1:26 pm)   [edit]
I woke up at 4 o'clock. But I noticed soon that I had a terrible headache. I might have woken up by a headache. It was hangover. I had a can beer (300ml) for dinner last night. Anyway, I could not turn on PC for daily updating, I took a cold medicine as a painkiller, and I came back into futon again. It got well after a while, and had breakfast as usual. I turned on PC at 8 at last and updated my webpage. But basically I lay in futon all day long. So I did not do anything today. I went to futon at 9 p.m. By the way, these are my getting prizes at sports festival. Sports drink (1500ml), flour, and vinegar. (SEP/27)  photo

BUSY ME
09.27.05 (9:12 am)   [edit]
I woke up at 3:40 a.m. I drove my mom to the field at 5:30 and went there to pick her up again at 8. She and I went to DIY store by car at lunchtime. We bought kerosene at 96 liters with five plastic tanks at a time. 60yen a litter. It is $2.07 a gallon. It was 50yen a litter at the same store in this February, according to my pocket note. But it was cheap unexpectedly than I though, because I expected it would be 70yen. My mom got a license of Buddhism song, so bought a picture frame at $10for the certificate of merit there, and a heater for her turtle at $18 to coming cold season. I tried the heater after putting it in the water tank tonight at once, but I turned on the light in the living room, then the turtle was near the heater. When I put the heater into the tank, water temperature was at 18(64) degrees at 6 p.m. but it raised 22(72) degrees soon, and kept it since then. And I bought 20 80minutes MDs at $16 and 10 videocassette tapes at $9 at electrical store next to the store. I left from those stores, and dropped her off at my sister's house, and came back home at 1 p.m. And I changed into a dress suit to go to Buddhist mass. Two neighbors got into my car and I went to the ceremony hall with them at 4. The dead man was our neighbors until 20 years ago. We came back to here at 5 p.m. This month was really busy for me. But it finished today at last. I took a can beer and bath, and listened to the radio, and fall asleep at 11 p.m. Today was really fine day. So I thought I was glad if yesterday would have been today. By the way, this bread that my sister bought at supermarket the other day has three kinds of cream, they are sweet potato, chestnut, and pumpkin of autumn taste. It has been put in front of dad's altar since then, I was going to eat it for tomorrow lunch.  (SEP/26)  photo

SPORTS FESTIVAL
09.26.05 (5:21 pm)   [edit]
I woke and got up out of futon soon at half past 4, because I had to go to a schoolyard by 6. That's why I had to finish updating my web page by that time. I went to the schoolyard to prepare for the sports festival at 6. But it had been raining by approaching the typhoon No. 17 since last night, so the schoolyard had a lot of puddles as I thought. After all, the event was changed from there to a gym, we did final preparing for the event there until7. But we had to put away all what we prepared in the schoolyard yesterday in the rain, for example, all tents that we put together took apart to pieces, we did it quickly. Then I got back home once to have breakfast. My mom and I went to the gym of a junior high school near my house by car in heavy rain at after 8. I graduated from the school about 30 years ago. I heard the sports festival for our residence area was 34th this year. I have joined the event when I was a pupil of elementary school, at about when the event just started. I joined it since then. The event has been held every September. I was a person of charge who had a flag at goal, I had a flag written "4" and I led each person who took fourth place to under the flag "4." A lot of elementary pupils and old persons were led by me to there. I joined four games and got four prize, foods or drinks. I took first place on ring throwing game I had a slight headache, but I forgot it in the race. I plenty enjoyed the sports festival. I was really fun. I decided I joined the event next year, too. I went home at 2 after putting all them away in the gym. I had a backache because I had been standing all day long, but I did not hurt legs at all. Anyway I went to sleep at 8. By the way, this is cream puff. You might hear "shoe cream" in Japan, but it is cream puff in Japan, we called it "chou cream" from French.  (SEP/25)  photo

SCHOOL YARD
09.25.05 (2:09 pm)   [edit]
I woke up at 6 o'clock this morning. My mom went to nearby shrine to clean with other members of the shine together this morning. It was drizzling in the morning, but mom and I went to a supermarket as our meeting place to see her sister by car at 10:30. We went to a temple to pray our ancestors. And I dropped my ant off near her house on the road, and came back home at 11:30. By the way, I had a slight hangover from morning today, because I had a lot liquor than usual, and went to futon soon last night. I took a cold medicine noon. I went to a school yard of junior high school near my house to prepare to sports festival of this area tomorrow at 3 by car. We weeded so much grasses on the yard and put together tent frame. I left there and went home at 4. I went into the futon after taking a bath, and was listening to the radio. I went to sleep at 10. By the way, this is one of Japanese traditional sweets called "ohagi." It was what mom bought at supermarket. Especially I like the right one best. In fact, I ate it. It is made from sweet bean jam, and it is put on rice. According to Ms. Maki, radio DJ, it is called "bota-moti" in spring because called botan (tree peony) flower is blooming in the spring, around Vernal Equinox Day, and hagi (Japanese bush clover) is blooming at around Autumnal Equinox Day. Left one is pasted sesame on rice, and middle one is soybeans jam, called zunda, on it. By the way, I like this dog on today's picture. I do not know not barking dog to me except this dog in my motorcycle touring until now. Usual dogs are barking out of the doghouse to me. But this dog is in its house, and only see me without barking. I think this dog is so clever. I got to love this peaceful dog. As you can see, this dog is keeping by farmer in the deep mountain.  (SEP/24)  photo

BUSY MONTH
09.24.05 (11:30 am)   [edit]
I woke up at 6 o'clock. I could not get to sleep easily last night because I was excited by TV drama, and I could fall asleep at 1:30. It was raining from when I woke up. It was rainy in the morning, but it stopped raining in the afternoon. I drove my mom to the temple at 9:30 because she joined a Buddhist event. She got home at 12:30, and I drove her to the field at 2, and I went there to pick her up at 5. I went to futon at 7 after having meal, and fell asleep naturally at 8. By the way, this rolled sushi is called "natto-maki." Natto is fermented soybeans, it is sticky and stinky, but it is very nice healthy food. It uses chopped natto. I like natto but I do not like natto-maki very well. Dad and mom and I ate it for the first time in 1975 when we visited dad's father at a home for the aged and we went back to Nagasaka town on the way to the rail station. (SEP/23) photo

MISS HERMES
09.23.05 (1:29 pm)   [edit]
I think that I got up at 5 this morning. It was cloudy from morning. I chauffeured mom to a dentist at 10, we called at a post office near here before that. I came back home soon after dropping her of before the dentist. I was staying in my room ever since that. And I got her call from supermarket at 2:30. I went there to pick her up soon. It started drizzling then, so it was good timing for her. By the way, I watched TV drama "Train Man" of the final. I felt sleepy tonight, but I put up with sleep, and lay awake on futon until 10 p.m. to watch the drama, to see Miss Hermes. It was over at 11:30. But I was made excited by the drama, so I did not get to feel sleepy as I thought. I could not get to sleep easily. That's why I went to kitchen and ate bread with milk, and alcohol to go into sleep. And I was listening to CD of English wordbook to sleep in futon. Then I could fall at 1:30 a.m. asleep after last. By the way, this is one of sushi packs that my sister bought at supermarket. It is called "Negitoro-maki." It is meaning that the fatty meat of tuna was rolled by seaweed with rice and dropping chopped leek on it. (SEP/22)  photo

PRAYS DAD
09.22.05 (2:03 pm)   [edit]
I got up at after 5 o'clock. Today was fine and it was suitable for fall. My mom was going to see a dentist, this morning, but she was likely to busy today, so she gave up to go to a dentist today. She and I went to a supermarket for shopping instead of that at 10. She bought a bunch of flowers for my dad, and some kinds of sweets etc. I bought a box of beer and a xylitol gum that would be put in my car. We went home at 11.And my sister came to my house after a long time to see us and visit dad's grave. She bought a lot of sweets and three packs of sushi at supermarket on the way to my house, this is one of them, and brought them to my house. We ate all them for lunch. She gave me sic can beers. That's why there were so many foods in my house suddenly, especially at around dad's altar. We visited a temple near my house to visit dad's grave at 2:30 by her car together. And we stayed there to put flowers and sweets before the grave for a while and each prayed him, and came back home at 3. My sister said to me that she wanted to see photos that I had taken pictures for them when we had gone to a cave in August. She and mom went into my room and saw those photos. They reminded us of summer adventure and driving at coast. She went back home at 4. By the way, there has been no license for me for a long time. So I made up my mind to take a test tonight.  (SEP/21)  photo

NEW CITY
09.21.05 (2:25 pm)   [edit]
I did not know why, but I woke up at 4 this morning. My mom got up atabout the same time, too, and she went out home to take a walk unusuallyat 4:30. And she went home at 8:30. She said that she took a walk aroundthe house that she was born and grew to see new house of her friends. It was fine in the morning, but turned cloudy in the afternoon. It did not gettoo warm after all. By the way, our new city was born today, and it started today. Citizen of our city changed from 62,000 to 135,000. After all, our newcity got to be the largest in this prefecture. Our new city has large land, though, it does not have so much population in comparison with the large area because it is covered with most of the mountain. It is good becauseI prefer county side. Anyway, happy birthday, new Ichinoseki! By the way, after having early dinner, I went to a public home for a meeting by scooter at 6:30, and came back home at 8. I went to sleep at 10:30.  (SEP/20)  photo

LAST DAY
09.20.05 (1:23 pm)   [edit]
5:30 was the time that I woke up today. I went to the field to pick her up by mom's request this morning, too. By the way, today was one of national holidays in Japan, was called "Respect for the Aged Day." We express our thanks to the aged, for they have made many contributions to today's culture. In honor of them, each city or village holds different entertainments. But my mom, a little over 70 years old, do not think that she is old woman yet, so we did not especially celebrate for her, and she did not hope for that. By the way, our city came to an end today. Our city gets together with around six villages or cities at around our city, and we make a new city tomorrow. We become citizen in the same city. By the way, she said that today was the day of a mutual loan association with her relations. She asked me to send there in breakfast. "Can you give me a lift? I would like to hope for that at 11. Are you agreed? " I tried to drive her there at that time, but she did not prepare to go yet. After all I drove her there, where there had been a department store, at half past 11. I called at a book store on my way home, my car was parked along the side walk in front of the store because I would be back to in the car later soon. I bought a textbook of German of radio. $3.3. That's because I would like to visit Germany with my girl friend next year to see a game in WouldCup Soccer Championship. It will be my first trip to abroad.  (SEP/19)  photo

GIVEN ENERGY
09.19.05 (2:29 pm)   [edit]
The time was 5:30 when I woke up this morning. My mom had already gone to the field despite of after just coming back home yesterday from travel, so was not in home. I left home to pick her up by car at quarter to 8, but I called at rice washer machine on the way there. 300 yen per30kg. It is $6.4 per 10 pounds. And I went to there with a paper bag of washed rice after that soon at 8. Here came to afternoon, I left for the drug store by motorcycle of 125 that I visited often at half past 12. But I pushed the stopped motorcycle down to the opposite on the road by my mistake in front of the bank opposite the drug store when I tried to ride it to go to opposite. But luckily, it got hardly damage. And it was old, so I did not almost mind about it. Then I bought some things that mom asked to buy me. When I tried to pick up a box of energy drink, a little fat middle-aged clerk, maybe a sent parttimer, called me to make me stop. "Why don't you try this drink?" She said to me so, and opened the cap and gave me the bottle despite no answer. I did not want to have that drink especially, but she handed it to me, so I tried drinking it there. It was $1 if I bought. I said to her "Thank you" and I picked the box of her request's cheap one up in front of her because it was the double the price than the cheap one, but it was the same maker. I put a medicine for stomachache, a bottle of vinegar, and cola into the basket. They were quite heavy on the rear carrier. So I had to come back home once. I dropped them off at home, and I left home at 1:30 again. It was fine this morning, but started turning to cloudy from noon, but it was hot despite that. I came back home at 3 after riding it at 53km/33miles today. I filled up the tank by gas at self-service gas station, Kawasaki, on the way.127yen a litter. $4.4 a gallon. I thought I wanted a new motorcycle. Mom went to a hall to sing a song with karaoke at 4. She went home at 7. I went to futon at 9.  (SEP/18)  photo

GO HOME
09.18.05 (2:23 pm)   [edit]
I woke up at quarter to five this morning. A thermometer at side of my desk said that it was 18(64) degrees at that time. It got a little chilly these days. I have already put a small blanket on my legs from a few days ago whenever I sit before PC in the morning. I had a meal with foods left in the fridge this morning too after updating of today. It was finer day than yesterday. So I wanted to go out by motorcycle, but I did not know when my mom came back home, so I did not go out today after all. She went home from the place she was staying for two days at half past three. I felt it was a long time than I thought. But I have drank so much water, coffee, beverage and so on today, and drank a cold can beer before dinner, and had hot noodle with soup that mom bought there as a souvenir, then I had a stomachache after that soon. On top of that, unluckily there was not medicine for stomachache in the bottle's inside. I asked her, I knew that she had taken all of that the other day. Oh my god! I had to stay in bathroom for 20 minutes with a radio. But it seemed to be better that I pushed a portable body warmer on around my stomach, I got well after leaving bathroom without medicine. I went to futon at 10 p.m. after watching TV in the living room.  (SEP/17)  photo

HUMBERGER LUNCH
09.17.05 (1:32 pm)   [edit]
It was at quarter to past six that I woke up this morning. It was a little bit late for me. I wondered if it was because my mom was not in home. Anyway, I got out of futon soon, and took a trash bag out to a shed by scooter. Air in outside got cooler in the morning before I knew. I had breakfast with leaving some foods on the table in the kitchen from last night. It was fine today from morning. Here came to noon, and I left home by scooter to buy a lunch after listening to cassette of English over the morning. First, I went to a bookstore in the town, and bought two textbooks of radio English, and called at a supermarket that my sister came and bought often on my way home. I bought a packed "hamburger lunch," instant cup soup with flour dumplings, and a bread of chestnuts cream of my favorite. They all were $5.5 at register. I enjoyed riding scooter and came back home at 12:50. I ate the bread that I had just bought with a bottle of milk for lunch. By the way, I turned on a PC printer of Epson after a long time. I think it was since last December, because a folder to print paper had been setting for card. I think it was to print New Years cards. Anyway, it got to be basically OK after cleaning nozzle for ink. I printed some articles in English of some newspapers in the Internet, because it was too expensive for me, so I could not buy newspaper in English. They are my teaching materials to learn reading English. Here came to sunset, I drunk a can beer as usual, and I ate the pack lunch with the soup as dinner after heating it by microwave. I watched TV with the turtle together in the living room after meal. I went to futon at 10 o'clock.(SEP/16)  photo

HOT SPRING
09.16.05 (2:20 pm)   [edit]
I think it was at quarter past 5 that I woke up. Today was fine from in the morning. Today was the day that my mom visited a hot spring in next town. I left home as her chauffeur at 1 p.m. to drive her and her friend in neighborhood to there. The hot spring was 10 km away from my house, we got there at 1:20 p.m. They were going to pass two nights there. I dropped them off and I started driving back home soon. I called at 100yen shop on my way home. I bought 10 items there. One of them was many small cards with a ring because I did not have a very large English vocabulary. So I tried to make a collection of English words for me. I came back home at 2:20. I had dinner alone that she had already cooked for me before leaving home. Only I drank a can beer by myself tonight in dinner. I watched TV until 11 o'clock and went to futon and went to sleep. By the way, I have been thinking for a long time that I wonder how or where this frog gets into the pipe. But I found it by chance in this early morning. This frog was fat like this after work or late dinner. And I found this frog was a little black in the early morning. You know, it  was protectively colored. Its aim is not to protect its body mainly, it is to catch many insects to eat, I think.  (SEP/15)  photo

HER CHAUFFEURE
09.15.05 (2:12 pm)   [edit]
I wonder why I wake up naturally in such an early morning every day. I woke up at 4:30 this morning. Basically today was cloudy from morning. I went out twice today, but it was as my mom's chauffeur. I also chauffeured to the field for her today by her sudden request at about 10:30, and went there to pick her up noon again. That's all. I have been staying in my house all the time after that. I went to futon at 8 p.m. at once after watching TV after dinner that she cooked. I was listening to cassette of English to listen to English until 10 p.m. and listening to the radio until 11:15, and went to sleep. By the way, at last night of this picture, I could not stay in the living room because I wanted to listen to the radio, so I asked for my mom to come and stay in the living room for this frog. That's because this frog's aim was to eat. If the light of the living room is been leaving until late night, a lot of insects get together at the window, so it can eat them plenty. The other side, at one night, I was in my room, mom went to bed early. Then this frog could not get feed plenty, so it could get into its most favorite pipe, I understood later.  (SEP/14)  photo

NEW TAP
09.14.05 (1:37 pm)   [edit]
I wonder if I woke up at about 5 o'clock. Today was cloudy. My mom's classmate who had come to my house yesterday visited my house at 9 a.m. too, and he left home soon. I had been in my room this morning as usual. But I left for my mom to a nearby sweet shop at 2:30 p.m. by car, and I dropped her off in front of a public hall where it was the polling place that he was about to interview to her. She walked to the field after paying money at the shop. And I went to the field to pick her up at 5 o'clock again. I watched TV tonight and went to futon at 9 p.m. By the way, let me explain today’s picture, there is a red cap, isn’t it? This was a cap of plastic bottle of soy sauce. I reuse it as a safety cover not to shout down PC suddenly. The old broken PC tap moved to the upper shelves to take turns with the new one. But its switch broke, so it keeps ON position, so it cannot change to OFF. This steel bookshelf was what my dad got my sister and me to buy in 1969.  (SEP/13)  photo

LISTENING TO VOA
09.13.05 (1:23 pm)   [edit]
The time that I woke up this morning was 5:30 a.m. I kept yesterday's diary in English on display, and forwarded for that at 7:30. My mom went to another nearby temple to practice Buddhism song with lunch box at9 a.m. It was fine and hot today. But I ate an instant hot noodle with soup in plastic bowl that I bought at supermarket the other day for lunch. I did not go out today, I was in home all day. Mom's male classmate visited my home by motorbike, but she did not stay home then, he went back home after chatting with me. He was also a colleague with my dad. Mom came back home at 3 p.m. In the night, I was listening to the radio, especially VOA(Voice of America), with new pocket radio until 11:30 p.m. But it was too cheap radio that it was not highly sensitive to VOA, too. So I put a coaxial cable on a long antenna as antenna. Then it got to be highly sensitive to VOA than before. I turned off the radio and went to sleep in futon before 0 a.m. By the way, about today's picture, there are two small plastic bottles, but they are xylitol chewing gum either. This yellow one is a thing that my nephew gave me after driving to seashore. They are staying until now. A bottle of Pepsi lemon cola by Sharapova. They all are at the left side on the desk, but another PC tap was on the upper steel shelves beside right side of the desk. It is for Epson printer behind that, ADSL modem, and broadband router. By the way, there is a cap of coke on the keyboard, but it is safety cap for PC by me. The key that was covered is "power." That's because I did not want to push on it, but I have pushed on it sometimes before by chance. Of course, PC was turned off automatically. (SEP/12)  photo

VOTING DAY
09.12.05 (1:39 pm)   [edit]
I wake up at 5:30. Today is a mowing day twice a year at the temple. I went there with a sickle by scooter at 8:30. Most of temple's members got together, about 150. I mowed grass around graves, and got much sweat. It was cloudy, but a little humid. That volunteer working was over at 10:30, they gave each us cookies and a can sports drink, PocariSweat as a present as usual. I went home soon, and I opened it and drank soon just as I got to home. Then I took a bath and changed clothes. I took a rest, and went to a nearby center with mom to vote by car at 1 p.m. It was for the House of Representatives. When we got out of there, a man was waiting for us in front of the entrance, and he called to her who was walking before me. "Excuse me, I am from Menkoi TV, but I would like you to answer to our some questions." But my mom answered him "No thank you" with a little voice, and tried to leave from there. Well, I said to her, "Why don't you answer his questions, mom?" The TV station is broadcasting "Train Man." I have been asked some questions about this election here once like this. It was the last House of Representatives on November 9, 2003, and it was for the first time for me by NHK. We went to the supermarket after voting, and I drove her to her friend's house to give her a tip of building new house. I went home soon after dropping her off. She came back home at 3 and her sister in law came to my house with some fishes as her present. By the way, the radio that I got at auction site reached me this morning. I was listening to the radio on short-wave after watching TV of election until 9 p.m. TV or radio said Mr. Koizumi beat his opponents perfection. (SEP/11)  photo

NEW FACE
09.11.05 (2:15 pm)   [edit]
I slept for seven hours, and I woke up at 5 o'clock this morning, too. I kept yesterday's diary and did forward it to California at half past seven. It was cloudy from this morning, after all it was cloudy all day today. It was cloudy today, but I tried to ride a motorcycle today, too, because I wanted to take a test to the front brake that had a little bad. But I rode it at 28kmfor an hour, but it was not especially bad. I think it got used to touch inside each other. It was woken up by only one kick. I left home at 1 p.m. and went home at 2 p.m. By the way, I felt strange feeling at my right leg last night. I did not know why, but I was unsteady on my feet suddenly last night. I wondered why my right leg was strange like this. I remembered that I gave two kicks to the engine to wake it up yesterday afternoon. It was only two kicks, but it was enough for my leg. By the way, it started raining at half past five. I heard thunder several times then. My mom came back home from the field on foot in the rain. I went into futon and listened to the radio tonight. But I have to wake up early morning tomorrow to go out, so I went to sleep earlier than usual.  I put black goggles on from last month like this. It was very good for my eyes to protect wind, but I found that it was not good for my ears because the noise of the wind was big than I thought. Of course, ears were not covered with anything. So I found that I could not listen to a single-cylinder engine sound easily by that that I wanted to listen to. This is a pea plant of Jack fallen down by typhoon's wind the other day, but I set a digital camera on this incinerator that was not used already near Jack's mom planted and took a picture by selftimer. Whenever I go out, I put a digital camera into a waist porch like this. (SEP/10)  photo

NEW RADIO
09.10.05 (1:42 pm)   [edit]
I could go into sleep with a cup of liquor about at midnight at last, but in spite of that, it woke me up without my asking at 5 a.m. and next, I heard my mom called my name from downstairs in futon. I drove her to the field and had to pick her up there in three hours as usual. She went to the field after a long time, so I felt I went out after a long time. By the way, it was getting a little cool around here in daytime too at once, so I tried to ride my motorcycle after a long time again at 1 p.m. This summer was very hot, so I did not ride that for a long time, but I did not think I had not ridden that for a month. Actually riding a motorcycle was since on August 7, according to my pocketbook. So I thought I could not start the engine easily, but it woke up by just two my kicks. The engine seemed to be good, but I found that a front dram brake was not good after riding. Anyway, I rode it softly for half hour at 15km around 1 p.m. on mainly flat road in the mountain. It was 28(82) degrees then. When I went home, I had got sweat a little in the thin jacket. Basically I feel uneasy about the motorcycle when I am always riding it, especially since engine broken this spring, so I got not to travel by that easily. However, I would travel by that from this month again, and would take a lot of pictures for you again. Because I am a challenger. By the way, I got a new pocket radio at auction site last night. It was a thing I got in stead of the broken old radio-cassette. Actually I had been looking for a radio to listen to a short-wave since last September. According to my plan, I was going to get a short-wave radio until October last year, but I could not choose one of them, then, I had been looking for the best one until this April. But I forgot looking for that before I know. That's why I took it a year to get. It was digital radio at $12 and the postage $6, made in China. Now I should be able to listen to BBC or VOA. By the way, according to a manual of the fridge that I was looking for from yesterday, it said that I should clear up in the ice space. There were two cold-keeping cubes. I saw there were some ices there after removed them shortly. By the way, let me explain about mountain ant on this picture. This kind of ant can come in my room with some its friends. But I fell good feeling that on my hand like turtles or beetles. It rarely bites me, but if it bites me, I feel it would be just cute. I have seen these ants in my room since my room was built when I was16 years old. So they are my old friends. This ant must be one of the descendants of them then.  This ant is the same ant that was on my hand. It moved to on a screen door in my room from my hand before I know. (SEP/9)  photo

EARLY BIRD
09.09.05 (1:27 pm)   [edit]
I also woke up at 5 o'clock this morning as usual. I have not had enough sleep lately, so I went to sleep at 8 o'clock, so I could sleep for 9 hours last night. As you know, I became one of early birds too for my web page updating and my PC's health. It is as if I moved to a villa in Karuizawa where it is the most famous summer resort place in Japan from heated village in tropical rainforest. It looked as if I had been in the villa since August. I woke up in early morning whether I went to bed late or not, because here came to morning early every day. However, it got to be a little dark in the morning, so I had to turn on the light if it was rainy. And it got to be a little chilly for me. It was very comfortably since I moved to this time zone to up date, but I would have to come back home from here shortly. I was sure that I was an early bird by my experience. An early person can take money on the road. It is the saying I made. Anyway, when I opened the curtain this morning, there were blue skies in front of me. But it turned cloudy after breakfast, the sun appeared sometimes in the clouds in the morning and early afternoon, but at last it turned clear skies after 3 o'clock again. By the way, when I woke up this morning, Typhoon No. 14 has already gone to Hokkaido of northern island. I said that I would not get no damage yesterday, but we got a small damage in the garden. A pea plant of Jack was about to fall down. My mom asked me when I walked to a bathroom before breakfast, "Can you lend me your hand?" But I fixed it by myself after meal. By the way, I noticed about this time it was not I had no relation with New Orleans where Katrina gave terrible damage. As you know, New Orleans is the birthplace of jazz music. I have some drawings of Dixieland jazz in New Orleans by me on my web site. Would you click the bottom "DRAWING" lower page to see them? I wish New Orleans is revived certainly. By the way, I said to you that my old Sony radio-cassette player was broken with my hand yesterday, but a fridge was not a little good lately, too. It got not to be able to make ice automatically. But I tried pouring water into the hole with my hands instead of a water tank with a pump, then, there were some frozen ices in the freezer this morning. What a relief! We were so lucky. We were glad that the hottest summer has gone already. However, basically it is out of order somewhere in the fridge. It is what my mom bought at $2,500 in December 1998. She bought a first microwave for my house at $250 at the same time at the same store, but it has been running right without a hitch. By the way, I went into futon at 9 p.m. I was listening to the radio, but I could not fall asleep easily, so I went to the kitchen and poured sake (rice wine) into a glass and drank to go into sleep after 11 p.m. I seemed to have been able to fall asleep at last about 0 a.m. Could you click "SEP 8" under here to see garden after typhoon last year? TYPHOON DAMAGE
09.08.05 (1:36 pm)   [edit]
This morning, the time I woke up was 5 o'clock. A powerful typhoon was heading for here day by day, but in spite of that, it was fine weather this morning. Usually clouds move to east from west, but they at low were moving to south to north quickly from this morning today. But it turned cloudy quickly at 8 o'clock. It did not almost rain, but strong wind started blowing from 11 o'clock. Would you look at yesterday's picture? I put two poles at both side of cockscombs in the garden to protect them not to fall down from the powerful wind at 12:30. We got muggy suddenly this afternoon and too windy. By the way, there was an international soccer match in Sendai tonight despite terrible weather like this. Japan VS Honduras in Central America. One neighbor got together with her children and her grandchildren, all members were nine, and went to the stadium where the game would be held tonight by car. But the powerful typhoon was heading for there, so I heard the game would be held, but supporter who was from far away could not use airplanes, and Japanese super express Shinkansen could also stop plenty by that. But most supporters who were crazy about soccer got together at the stadium in Sendai. Zico of manager of Japan team, one of most famous Brazilian soccer players, called six Japanese players from overseas for tonight match. I did not watch the game on TV, but I heard Japan won 5-4. Most supporters in the stadium must have been excited. By the way, I heard that like this in the radio before noon. A male announcer said, "I have been using an old radio to listen to radio, but it was made about in 1977, so it does not already have cover for cassette. But we can use it to listen." I have also had old Sony radio-cassette recorder since 1973, so I took it out from a chest after an interval of a year. I tried turning a knob for turning, but it was not smooth, and I tried to turn it by more power, it ran idle, then. It did not move, so I could not get to do turning to choose radio program. I opened the rear cover to look at there or fix it by a screwdriver soon, a string snapped by my hand, or it was worn out. It had a short wave radio, so I used to listen to some foreign radio stations in the short wave band about a years ago. There was nothing broken outside, but the radio broke inside of my house. Anyway, the typhoon passed through over the Japan Sea when it approached here most. Blow by the typhoon got weak at night, and I noticed that it was not blowing at all in the midnight. What I was surprised of this typhoon was what it rained here hardly. So I think there was no damage by this typhoon for us so far.(SEP/7)  photo

TYPHOON NO. 14
09.07.05 (12:57 pm)   [edit]
I could not fall asleep easily last night, so I was listening to the radio in futon until 11:30, but in spite of that, I woke up at 6 o'clock this morning. Mom had already woken up and was cleaning the room with a vacuum cleaner this morning, too. When I was preparing tomorrow's diary on my web site after today's updating, she went out home to practice Buddhist song singing at 8 o'clock. She and other women members went to Senmaya city, 30km far away to east, together by car. Today was rainy day. It has been falling rain all day by Typhoon No. 14 approaching for here little by little. That is largest and powerful typhoon in this year. If it was called in Japanese system, Katrina that gave a terrible damage to especially New Orleans is Typhoon No. 11 in the US. Three typhoons, Typhoon No. 7,11, and 12, have already hit the Japan this year. The average of that is a couple of typhoons a year, although, there were ten typhoons hit Japan last year. Typhoon No. 23 was the 10th to make landfall last season in October, and we were given terrible damage by that since Oct. 1979. It was the powerful large typhoon that there left 111 people dead or missing, according to paper,. It was last landfall typhoon, but it got to be the worst typhoon last year. There were 98 people dead or missing were by the typhoon. By the way, typhoon is called "Taifu" in Japanese. It is similar to English, right? Anyway, I do not know the reason, but I had a slight cold before I know this morning. Maybe I thought because it was chilly for past two days. I took a cold medicine, so it made me get to feel too sleepy today. But I had not had enough sleep, so it was a good timing to get sleep for me. Mom went home at 5:30 with some foods, such as bread, apple, and corn etc, that she bought at a souvenir store by the national road. She boiled those corns, and we ate them for lunch. I already went into futon after meal at 8 o'clock, but I turned off a desk lamp by my pillow, and I fell asleep soon after 11 o'clock after listening to radio.(SEP/6)  photo

IN MY ROOM
09.06.05 (12:31 pm)   [edit]
At 5 o'clock I woke up this morning, too. It was light raining then, so my mom was in my house, and was cleaning inside of house with a vacuum cleaner. I was keeping a diary of my web site in my room then. Typhoon No. 12 was heading for southern Japan, so it was also drizzling here from the morning. But it was cloudy this afternoon. According to weather report, the typhoon seems bigger than "Katrina" that attacked to the southern part of the US the other day. It already passed through Okinawa where US had some of important bases. Okinawa and Florida are on almost the same latitude. I had no business, and did not need to go out, so I had been in my house all day. I listened to the radio in my futon tonight until half past 11 p.m. and tried to go to sleep.  (SEP/5)  photo

IN THE TEMPLE
09.05.05 (11:48 am)   [edit]
At 5 o'clock I woke up. It was falling drizzle then, so my mom did not go to the field and was in the house. It was dark this morning, so when I turned on PC to update my web page, I was about to try to turn on the light despite6 o'clock. I went to kitchen and had breakfast with mom after updating at 8 o'clock. After that, I put a suit and a tie on after a long time to have to go to the temple. We got into a charter bus and went to there together. We visited the temple to attend a Buddhist memorial mass. We sit straight on tatami at side of a Buddhist priest for an hour. Of course, as you guess, my legs had gone to sleep. My dad fell down at side of a priest by his sleeping legs when his parent's funeral was held in temple. We, our families, were put to shame in front of many people. We went to a near banquet hall by bus after the ceremony, and had a splendid lunch for two hours. I took beer with meal. We were sent by bus, I came back home with a present from them at 2 o'clock. Of course, we had paid money to them before the party. Luckily when I was outside, it did not rain. I had an umbrella with me, though. I took off the suit and the tie at once, and changed into usual sweat suits. Then I did not have to eat dinner. I went to futon at 9 o'clock. By the way, I took today's picture when I took care of the turtle, a scourer that a locust is on it is called " turtle child scourer" in Japanese meaning. I think it looks like turtle child. I have heard that it was made from palm tree by Japanese for the first time, and the maker has been making since old ear 100 years ago.  (SEP/4)  photo

ON THE ROOF
09.04.05 (1:22 pm)   [edit]
I woke up before 5 o'clock. My mom did not try to call my name from downstairs this morning. That's because I asked her that she did not called me. Actually if I went to bed midnight, I woke up by mom that early morning, so I got lack of sleep. But I woke up myself this morning, so I sent her to the field by car at 5 a.m. and went there to pick her up at 8 a.m. again. I did laundry after breakfast for an hour. It was two tubs for laundry. When we do laundry, we use hot water leaving in bathtub, but I did so. When I was washing a bathtub after the laundry, my nephew got into the bathroom. "I bought these pop soda drinks on the way to your house, which do you like better, Ginger Ale or Fanta Grape?" as I took a look to him, his hands were holding two can bottles in his each hand. He wanted me to make CD-R of MP3. He said he had his another business, so he left home by bicycle at10 minutes to 11. But it started heavy rain at 11. I wondered if he got wet by the storm. After all, three thunderstorms were today, including the storm, 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. each storm by cold front was for an hour. Rainwater was overflowing from eaves trough by the first storm, I climbed up the roof and picked up mud and rotten dead leaves with my hands in rubber gloves to remove them from there, and put into the bucket on the roof. The bucket was filled up with them to the brim. I came back to my room after meal with beer, and I listened to the radio in futon and went into sleep.  (SEP/3)  photo

HAIR CUT
09.03.05 (1:53 pm)   [edit]
I woke up by mom's voice calling from downstairs to me before 5 o'clock. But I went to sleep at 0 a.m. last night, so I did not want to wake up at that early morning. I should have slept more. Anyway, I sent her to the field by car soon. Then I went to the field with a mowing machine after sending yesterday's diary to the U.S. I mowed grass around the field and came back home with her. And I mowed grass around a parking space before breakfast. It was hot today, too, I was lack of sleep, so I wanted to sleep more, but I could not go into a sleep easily by heat. When I was lying on tatami in my room like that, a clerk of a building contractor's office came and visited my house with a pamphlet. Mom made her come into the living room, and they were making a small talk for two hours until noon. It started heavy raining from 1 p.m. suddenly. And thunder also ran after that and came here. The white frog had been on the clothesline under the sun for a long time, so it was heated, so it was blessing rain for the frog. I heard that a few frogs around my house were croaking after beginning the rain. Northern skies were covered with dark clouds then, but southern skies were fine, so the storm seemed to move to north to south, it left away an hour later. After the storm, I tried to mow on my head, I visited a barbershop at central city at 2:30 p.m. I had them cut my hair to be rather short. I paid him $14without shampoo a half hour after the mowing and getting a shave. He gave me a free ticket for a parking lot. And I walked and called on a bookstore, and bought a textbook. When I was driving car to go home, I saw a huge cumulonimbus at east skies in the direction of driving. It looked like a nest of thunders, like Miyazaki's anime film. It seemed to be over the Higashiiwai area. It must have been thunderclouds for them. It was blowing cool wind on wet grasses this early evening. I watched TV tonight, and took a bath and went to futon at 10 p.m. By the way, there was a dragonfly that we saw in autumn often over this frog house. (SEP/2)  photo

NEW FACE
09.02.05 (2:19 pm)   [edit]
I went to futon at 11:30 last night, but in spite of that, it woke me up at 4:30 a.m. I drove my mom to the field at 5 a.m. this morning, too. Around the car was wet with morning dew, so I wiped both side windows and door mirrors before we went into the car. I went there to pick her up again after up-dating my web page. She has not been late for the waiting time with me since I gave a stopwatch that I bought at 100yen shop. She would be late before. She had an ordinary digital watch of 100yen, but it seemed not to be useful for her. So I had to wait her there for about 10 minutes at least. I had been in my house all day after going home. It was fine and too warm today, too. Air temperature is still over 30(86) degrees despite entering September. I watched TV drama "Train Man" tonight, too until 11 p.m. and listened to AM radio in futon after the drama and going back room, because the radio program has an actress who was appeared in the drama. I slept at 0 a.m. By the way, today’s picture is, but about three years ago, when my mom asked a house painter to repaint a red steel bridge, she had him repaint this stand for wash-line pole. Maybe I think mom bought this about 35 years ago, so it got to be rusty and very old. Tree frogs used to come into the place before repainting, but frogs seemed not to like the paint smell, so they did not get to visit there after that. However, frog came again the favorite place for them after an interval of 3 years.  (SEP/1)  photo
